NS News: Man charged with firearm offences Achi-News

A 38-year-old man is facing multiple weapons-related charges after police responded to a report of a person carrying a firearm in Bible Hill, NS, on Friday.

According to an RCMP news release, officers responded to the complainant on Hillcrest Avenue at approximately 8:22 a.m. An emergency alert was issued for Colchester, Cumberland and Pictou counties, and East Hants and area schools were placed on lockdown.

Truro police say the man was arrested without incident on High Street around 9:12am

Thomas Francis Joseph MacGillivray was charged with:

  • use a firearm to commit a crime
  • possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • two counts of uttering threats
  • possessing a firearm knowing that its possession is unauthorized
  • careless use of a firearm
  • scare
  • mischief

MacGillivray was remanded in custody and was expected to appear in court on Monday.
