The trend of online shopping is growing rapidly in Israel. Meanwhile, cases of fraud against customers are also being discovered. People often buy products relying on fake reviews available on the website. And then these things turn out bad. Due to this, customers have to face a lot of problems.
Now Indian government is going to take a big decision soon to save the customers from such scams. The government has called a meeting of companies and e-commerce organizations related to online reviews to discuss the quality control order to curb these fake reviews. The ministry has also released a draft of the Online Consumer Review (Quality Control) Order, 2024. It is proposed to accept reviews only from verified buyers and users of the product.
According to the announcement, e-commerce companies that connect customers and sellers and organizations involved in the inspection according to the quality control order were asked to declare their self-compliance with the established requirements. The draft quality control order states that organizations will not publish reviews purchased or written by themselves or from a vendor, supplier or any third party.
The organization concerned should register with the Bureau of Indian Standards and declare compliance with the rules, the notification said. In this regard, a meeting of the concerned parties chaired by the Secretary has been convened on 15 May 2024 to discuss the draft QCO. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs proposed that all organizations that manage and publish consumer reviews on the Internet comply with the rules. This also includes a ban on publishing fake audits and registering themselves as audit managers with BIS by declaring their level of compliance with the requirements set out in the order.
