Lahore: The Lahore High Court has issued notices to the Election Commission for yesterday on the application against the decision of the Appellate Tribunal to reject the nomination papers for the Senate elections.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabbir of the Lahore High Court heard Zulfi Bukhari’s appeal. The court issued notices to the Election Commission on the appeal for tomorrow. The court also issued notices to the Attorney General of Pakistan and the Advocate General of Punjab
Salman Akram Raja Advocate argued in favor of the petitioner.
It was argued in the application that the Returning Officer rejected the documents on the basis of dual citizenship and document verification, the Appeal Tribunal also rejected the appeal against the rejection of the nomination papers contrary to the facts, the appellant has checked his documents by the Embassy.
It was asked in the petition that the court should declare the decisions of the Appeals Tribunal and the Returning Officer null and void.
It should be noted that on March 22, the Appellate Tribunal of the Lahore High Court rejected the appeal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Zulfi Bukhari against the rejection of his nomination papers in the Senate elections.
Earlier, on March 19, the nomination papers of the candidates for the Senate elections of the Upper House of the Senate were verified, the nomination papers of Zulfi Bukhari were objected due to his dual citizenship.
