Noida police arrest a Delhi driver for reckless driving outside Amity University Achi-News

On Friday, a 25-year-old man named Prince Mavi, who hails from Delhi’s Hari Nagar, was arrested by the Noida police for allegedly endangering the safety of pedestrians by driving his SUV recklessly on a Noida street, The Times of India reported.

The police confiscated the vehicle. In addition, Maui received claims by the traffic police totaling Rs. 35,000 for multiple violations under the Vehicle Law. These violations include the use of dark glasses, a damaged number plate containing casteist references, reckless driving and exceeding the prescribed air pollution levels.

“On the basis of the video, an FIR was registered at the local police station of Sector-126 and an investigation was launched, after which the driver of the car, accused Prince Mavi, son of Pitambar Mavi, a resident of Hari Nagar Extension Part-2 in Delhi, was arrested,” a police official told -Times Of India.

The Noida police registered a case against him under sections 279 (rash driving), 336 (endangering life or personal safety), and 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC.

A viral video on X yesterday showed a black Mahindra Thar driving near Amity University in Noida. The driver of the car appears distracted and slams on the brakes suddenly, which poses a safety risk to others on the road.

In the seven-second video, a girl is seen walking on the road and is almost hit by the car. In a millisecond, she pulls away from the speeding car. In the same film, a group of people are caught hastily backing away from the car when they realize it is coming towards them.

Pramod Kumar Singh, SHO of Sector 126 police station said, “The SUV was dark with black films and it seems the driver tried to scare the passengers by suddenly applying brakes in front of them.”

After the video surfaced on social media, the Noida traffic police traced the owner of the vehicle through the registration plate. According to the SHO, preliminary findings indicate that the video dates back almost three months and was first posted on Instagram on March 1. Later, it was downloaded and shared on X, where it gained significant attention.
