Kolti/Oshgram: FWest Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team raided Sandeshkhali without informing the state police and there was “no evidence” of weapons being recovered.
He expressed doubt about the raid, saying that the items recovered “may have been brought by the Central Agency officials.”
The Chief Minister said, “Even if a firecracker is detonated in Bengal, NIA (National Investigation Agency), CBI, NSG (National Security Guard) come to investigate. It seems as if a war is going on. The state police were not informed.”
He said, “Don’t know what we found.” There is no evidence. The recovered items may have been brought by them (CBI) in a car.
Banerjee was addressing an election rally for Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Sturghan Sinha from the Asansol Lok Sabha seat.
The CBI on Friday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including a police pistol and foreign-made weapons, during raids on two premises of former Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh’s aide in Sandeshkhali, officials said.
The raid was conducted in connection with an attack on ED staff by Sheikh’s supporters on February 29.
A team comprising CBI, bomb disposal squad, NSG, central military forces and West Bengal Police raided a village on the banks of the Sundarbans in North 24 Parganas district, officials said.
Banerjee said, “Today I heard that an incident took place near Sandeshkhali. A BJP leader has stored bombs in his house. They think they can win elections by canceling (school) jobs and with bombs. We want bread, clothes, houses and jobs for people, not his expressions “.
TMC claimed that several people were injured after a powerful IED blast at the house of a relative of a BJP leader in Basira Basira constituency.
Prime Minister Banerjee referred to the decision of the Calcutta High Court regarding school work.
The court declared the recruitment process of the State Level Selection Test (SLST)-2016 in schools sponsored and aided by the West Bengal government as “invalid” and ordered the cancellation of all appointments made through it.
