The NIA court sentenced five people to prison for promoting the ideology of ISIS and spreading terrorism. Two women are also included among the accused. The accused were tried in a case related to the conspiracy of the banned Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP).

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) issued a statement on Monday after the court’s decision. In a statement, NIA said that one of the five accused is accused of planning to establish a caliphate in India. He is also accused of conspiring to carry out 100 bomb blasts in one day. On March 8, 2020, the Delhi Police arrested two accused – Jahanzaib Sami Wani and his wife Hina Bashir Begh from Ukhla Vihar, Jamia Nagar, Delhi on charges of ISKP links. Both conspired to carry out anti-national activities in India.

In addition, the NIA arrested two more accused from Pune on July 12, 2020, including Sadia Anwar Sheikh and Nabeel S Khatri. Then in August 2020, Abdur Rehman alias Dr. Brab was arrested by the NIA. However, the case against Abdur Rehman continued. The statement said that Abdur Rehman is studying MBBS in Bangalore. He was radicalized by other accused. He also traveled to Syria in 2013. He also participated in various ISIS terrorist activities. He learned to develop a medical application for treating terrorists and applying laser-guided missiles for ISIS.
