Once they thought Chandamama would never get it. They used to look at the sky and weave their imaginations. But in later times, thanks to advanced technology and space research, it was possible to go to the moon. Recently, our country made an attempt to know more about the Moon’s crust with the Chandrayaan 3 experiment. Exploring the moon is still part of the space exploration plans of many countries. But the American space agency NASA (NASA) has gone a step further. At the same time, he plans to build a railway station on the moon and run trains.

A few countries have already reached the moon and done research on the surface. Now NASA has set its sights on even bigger goals. It is said that the day when a train car will land on the moon is not far away. NASA hopes to build the first full-scale rail station on the Moon to provide reliable, autonomous and efficient payload transportation around the lunar surface. It is different to railway stations on land.

* New technology

NASA introduces a flexible on-track (floating) levitation system for this. It uses magnetic levitation technology on a unique 3-layer flexible film track. Traditional lunar robots have wheels or tracks that kick up the dust and dirt that is abundant on the Moon. Floating robots without this problem use diamagnetic levitation to float on the surface by reducing dust friction.

These floating robots have no moving parts. Flexible tracks are placed directly on the lunar regolith (surface material). This eliminates the need for complex on-site construction such as roads or railways.

If these plants are at home, mosquitoes will escape!

* There is a dust resistant transport system

Floating robots can transport objects at a speed of 0.5 meters per second. Operated on a large scale, the flotation system could move 100,000 kilograms of lunar regolith over several kilometers per day. This technology provides an efficient method of lunar exploration, resource utilization, and dust-reducing transportation.

For NASA, the FTOT system operates in the challenging lunar environment with minimal preparation. This track network can be rolled up and relocated at lunar bases to meet changing mission requirements. In Development Phase 2, NASA will design, manufacture and test small, prototype tracking robots. These prototypes will be operated in lunar analog test environments to study how environmental factors affect system performance and durability.

As envisioned in mission concepts such as ‘Moon to Mars’, Robotic Lunar Surface Operations 2 (RLSO2). A durable, long-lasting robotic transport system will be essential to day-to-day operations on a stable lunar base by the 2030s,’ NASA said.
