The court has sentenced a man who murdered his wife for dowry after five years of marriage to 10 years rigorous imprisonment. Tasleem Ansari’s husband was convicted by the Fifth District court and Additional Sessions Judge Abhimanyu Kumar of Palamu District Civil Court. The deceased’s father-in-law, Wali Mohammad Mian, was acquitted due to lack of evidence. The court completed the hearing of the case in less than three years. Nazia Khatoon, who lives in Jhabar village of Satbarwa police station, was married to Taslim Ansari of Lesliganj in the year 2016. On June 17, 2021, Natsïa’s husband murdered her and tried to make it look like suicide by hanging her body. Nazia’s mother Shahida Bibi had filed a named FIR at the Lesliganj police station against her daughter’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and brother-in-law. It was stated in the FIR that the girl was being harassed due to dowry since one year of marriage. She used to give money to her daughter and son-in-law from time to time. A day before the girl’s murder, she had sent 50 thousand rupees to her son-in-law from her son Mohd. Along with sentencing Nazia’s husband, the court has also directed the Regional Legal Services Authority Palamu to make arrangements for the rehabilitation of her minor son and also to give compensation to the mother of the deceased wife Shaheeda. During the investigation, the police had deleted the names of the deceased’s mother-in-law, Gotni and brother-in-law.
