The Montreal police arson unit is investigating after two vehicles were set on fire tonight on a residential street in the West Island.

Around 1:35 a.m., several 911 calls were made regarding vehicles on fire on Théorêt Street, near Lefebvre Street, in the Fairspons-Roxborough Borough. When the police arrived at the scene, they found the vehicles on fire, parked in front of a house.

The fire brigade was called and extinguished the fire. According to the initial information gathered by the police, at least one suspect spread explosives on the two vehicles before starting the fire.

Both vehicles were a total loss and were towed away to be examined by investigators, according to Montreal police spokeswoman Caroline Cheverfils.

According to her, there was minor damage to the house due to the heat of the fire. Police are reviewing surveillance footage as they try to identify the suspect.

No arrests were made.
