Guwahati: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday, May 10, after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail till June 1 in the ongoing money laundering probe related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy case.

After coming out of jail, he addressed a press conference on Saturday and said ”the CM post is not important to me. In the last 75 years in India, so many elections were held, AAP won with majority of votes in Delhi. After winning such a majority, they know they cannot win in Delhi. Instead they decided to put Kejriwal in jail, so that my government would fall. I will give up 100 cm posts for the sake of the country.”

“Modi ji wants to crush the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)… He has a dangerous mission – one nation, one leader. They will send all opposition leaders to jail and run all other BJP leaders and undermine them,” said a leader The AAP.

Continuing his attack on the BJP, he said, “My assessment is that the BJP will not form the government on June 4… Bloc India will form the government, and AAP will be part of that government.”

Kejriwal claimed that no other party had been harassed to this extent in the last 75 years. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that a dictator wants to end democracy in the country.

He added, “Every time a dictator tried to take over, the people of the country uprooted him. Today, the dictator again wants to end democracy… and I am fighting against this dictator, but cannot do anything alone.

I came to beg 140 million people to support me in saving the country from this dictator.”

On Friday, a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court granted him bail after he spent over 50 days in jail following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the excise policy case.

Upon his release he received a warm welcome from supporters and family members

While granting interim relief to Kejriwal, the Supreme Court noted that serious allegations have been made against Arvind Kejriwal but he has not been convicted yet. "Arvind Kejriwal has no precedents and is not a threat to society," SC said in the bail report.

However, he will have to surrender and return to prison on June 2.
