The famous spice brand MDH assured its customers on Saturday that its spices are 100 percent safe. At the same time, it rejected the claims of the food regulator in Singapore and Hong Kong about the inclusion of pesticides in certain products. Earlier this month, Hong Kong’s Center for Food Safety (CFS) reported that the pesticide ethylene oxide was found in certain samples of two Indian spice brands, MDH and Everest.

CFS advised consumers not to purchase MDH Madras Curry Masala, Everest Fish Curry Masala, MDH Sambar Masala Mixed Masala Powder and MDH Curry Mixed Masala Powder.

In its statement, MDH said it had not received any notice from the food regulator in Hong Kong or Singapore. In response to claims that ethylene oxide is found in some of MDH’s products, the company said, “These claims are false and there is no concrete evidence for these claims.” “We would like to state that MDH has not received any notification from the food regulator in Singapore and Hong Kong,” they added. The Spices Board of India and food regulator FSSAI have also not received any communication or inspection reports from Hong Kong or Singapore authorities regarding the matter.

The statement also said, “We assure our buyers and consumers that we do not use ethylene oxide in our spices.” The company said our labeling shows our commitment.
