Manchester United have ‘contacted’ Thomas Tuchel regarding the possibility of Bayern Munich head coach replacing Erik ten Hag.
That’s a new back reports in Germany, which has emerged following United’s narrow FA Cup win over Coventry City on Sunday.
Tuchel is leaving Bayern at the end of the season and it is believed that managing United would be his dream job.
It was reported back in January that United had shortlisted Tuchel as a candidate to succeed Ten Hag.
It is now believed that United have made contact with Tuchel and that minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘values’ the former Chelsea boss.
According to all reports, Ratcliffe has asked Tuchel ‘for a commitment for the coming season’ if the Red Devils decide to part ways with Ten Hag.
Speaking after United beat Coventry on penalties this weekend to reach the FA Cup final, Jamie Carragher tipped Ten Hag to be sacked.
‘I think that result has just cost Erik ten Hag his job,’ said Carragher on Sky Sports. ‘I don’t see how it stays, I don’t really.
‘It’s just bad performance after bad performance. That dressing room is probably the most embarrassing dressing room of a team that has just won a big game.
‘You can’t even celebrate that victory. Maybe that can somehow win the final but I don’t see any progress. This is someone’s job we are talking about but I don’t see how they are [the owners] can look at the situation and be positive about it. I don’t see it.’
Speaking back in January, Tuchel said he felt he ‘valued more’ working in England than Germany.
Tuchel was Chelsea’s head coach between 2021 and 2022, helping the west London side win the Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup.
The Blues sacked Tuchel in controversial circumstances, with Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali deciding to replace him with Graham Potter.
