Carnadigy/Melda: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), claiming that neither she nor the Congress would dare touch the CAA.
Addressing a rally in Karandighi in Raiganj constituency, Shah launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool-led West Bengal government over corruption issues, including the school recruitment scam, and claimed that only the BJP can stop corruption and the TMC’s corruption in the state can destroy the culture.
Shah said the Bharatiya Janata Party has set a target of winning 35 Lok Sabha seats from West Bengal and if “it achieves the target, the Trinamool thugs will hang upside down and upright”.
On the Congress leaders’ comments about repealing the CAA if they come to power, Shah said, “Neither the Congress nor Mamata Banerjee can dare to touch the CAA.”
He said, “Why is Mamata Banerjee opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA)? They are opposing the law because it will help Hindu refugees get citizenship. She supports infiltration into Bengal but opposes giving citizenship to Hindu refugees.
Banerjee recently claimed that if the opposition ‘India’ alliance, of which the Trinamool is also a part, comes to power at the national level, it will repeal the CAA by bringing a new law in Parliament.
The Center implemented the CAA last month. The rules relating to it were notified four years after the passage of this Act in Parliament. This Act was made to provide fast-track citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who arrived in India without documents before December 31, 2014.
Shah said only BJP can put an end to Trinamool Congress’ “corruption and money-cutting” in West Bengal.
Referring to the rally, he said, “The Calcutta High Court gave a verdict yesterday, canceling thousands of appointments (made through the 2016 teacher recruitment exam). It is a matter of shame that jobs were sold for a lakh of rupees. He took a bribe of 10 lakh rupees and 15 lakh For the position. It means if you don’t have 15 lakh rupees, how will you find work for your brothers and sons?
A division bench of the Supreme Court had a day earlier quashed 25,753 appointments made in the recruitment process of the State Selection Level Test-2016 (SLST) in schools run and aided by the West Bengal government.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called the Supreme Court’s order “illegal” and said her government would appeal the decision in the Supreme Court.
Shah said, “Rs 51 crore was recovered from Trinamool minister Preta Chatterjee’s residence. What action was taken against him?”
Former education minister Preta Chatterjee was suspended from the party and removed from the state cabinet in July 2022, days after his arrest in the school recruitment scam.
He said, “Culture and corruption of ‘money cut’ (commissions) should end in West Bengal. I want to know whether it should stop or not. Trinamool can never stop it, only BJP can stop it.”
Referring to Trinamool’s slogan of ‘Maa-Mati-Manush’, Shah said: “Mama replied with Sandashkhali, Mati was handed over to infiltrators from Bangladesh and Manush is suffering because of corruption.”
“The vote for BJP and Mamata Banerjee will be hung upside down,” he said.
Earlier, while addressing a road show in Malda South Assembly constituency, Shah said that infiltration into the state was going on unabated under the Trinamool Congress rule.
Referring to the recent incidents of sexual exploitation cases unearthed against Trinamool Congress leaders in Sandashkali in North 24 Parganas, Shah said it was a matter of shame that “Mamata Banerjee, despite being a singing woman, tried to protect the culprits”. To.”
He alleged, “Atrocities have been going on under your (Mamata Banerjee’s) nose for years. You are saving the criminals of Sandashkali to get some votes through appeasement. Now these culprits are in jail.
The Union Home Minister urged the people of West Bengal to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi to end violence, prevent infiltration, ensure citizenship to refugees and preserve the dignity of women.
Shah said, “Mamata Didi is not allowing Modi ji’s schemes to reach the people of Bengal. They fear that if Modi ji’s plans reach the people of Bengal, they will support him.
