Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate registered a case against TMC leader Mahua Moitra yesterday and she faces arrest. A case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has been registered against TMC candidate Mahua Moitra from Krishnanagar constituency in West Bengal. On this occasion, the message sent by Mahua Moitra’s mother is making a lot of news. Mahua Moitra posted her mother’s message on X.

Mahua Moitra’s mother Manju Moitra has given this message to her daughter. Mahua Moitra, who shared the screenshot of the message, wrote that this is my mother’s response to filing a CBI case. Last week, the ED summoned Mahua to Delhi for questioning. But Mahua said he will stay in Krishnanagar before the elections. He is currently busy with an election campaign.

What is the case against Mahua Moitra?

A case has been registered against Mahua Moitra in connection with money laundering. Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December for allegedly accepting gifts to ask questions targeting the central government in Parliament.

Recently, the Electoral Department issued a new summons for questioning in the case of violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Mahua Moitra escaped from the court case. He said the investigating agency wants to question him about transactions related to non-resident external accounts or NRE accounts.

The first phase of the elections will begin on April 19, and the final phase of the 7th phase will be held on June 1. The election results will be out on June 4. Voting for 102 constituencies in the first phase will be on April 19 Voting will be held on April 26 for 89 constituencies in the second phase, 94 constituencies in the third phase, 96 in the fourth phase, 49 in the fifth phase, 57 in the sixth phase and 57 in the seventh phase.
