Ever since the Lok Sabha elections were announced, a tug-of-war has started between parties regarding seats. On one hand, BJP seems to be in full election mode. At the same time, no agreement was reached in many opposition alliances regarding the distribution of seats. The meeting of Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance (MVA) of Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar) in Maharashtra on Wednesday remained inconclusive.

Today’s meeting was inconclusive in several seats – Patol

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patul said after the meeting that the division is going on for some seats in Sengal, Bhiwandi and Mumbai, though we are confident that all these seats will go to the Congress account. However, he admitted that the meeting held at Silver Oak, the residence of NCP president Sharad Chandra Pawar, did not yield results.

Hope to find a solution on seats on Thursday

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patul said talks were still on with the central leadership of his party. It is expected that a solution may appear on Thursday. It is noteworthy that Maharashtra has the highest number of 48 Lok Sabha seats after Uttar Pradesh.

The MVA leader said – a consensus was reached on most of the seats

According to Maha Vika Agadi (MVA) leaders, the issue is stuck on only four or five seats. The three allies (Uddhav faction’s Shav Sena, Congress, Sharad faction’s NCP) agreed on most constituencies in the state. It is expected that an agreement will soon be reached regarding the remaining seats as well.

However, a day earlier on Tuesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said that the Maha Vikas Agadi (MVA) was still interested in holding seat-sharing talks with Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bhujan Agadi (VBA). VBA has already announced candidates for many Lok Sabha seats. While talking to reporters, Raut also reiterated his demand to remove Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and hold elections on the basis of ballot papers.
