Lorna Slater rules out voting deal with the SNP in tight seats Achi-News

Ms Slater, who was a minister in the Scottish Government until the end of the power-sharing agreement with the SNP earlier this year, added that she was not concerned whether this would split the independence vote, and ruled out any deals with her former partners in the coalition.

He told BBC Radio Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland programme: “Having the Scottish Greens in the room at every husting, at every media event, means that the climate and nature crises get a glimpse because without us there they tend to be completely forgotten.”

When asked if there is concern that the Scottish Greens who are standing in a higher number of seats could split the independence vote, he said that it is “not a kind of here or there”.

Ms Slater said: “The fate of the SNP is a matter for the SNP. The independence movement – and it should be and is – is bigger than any political party, so support for independence has been around half the country for a while now and we are not going to get independence only from people who have elected to Westminster, in fact it needs to be a national movement, we need to get support for independence up higher.”

When asked whether any deals could be made in areas where it is very tight between the SNP and the Scottish Conservatives, for example, and whether the Scottish Greens could step out of the way, he said: “There have been no discussions about deals, there is no Aren’t such deals, we’ve already chosen our candidates.”
