During the Lok Sabha elections in Manipur Inner Constituency, incidents of firing were reported from a total of five polling stations, two in Imphal East and three in Imphal West. A gunman opened fire in the air near the polling booth at Thamnapokpi under Moirang sub-district in Bishnopur district. Seeing this, the voters present there fled in fear. The police said that after receiving information about the incident, additional security teams were deployed.

Unidentified gunmen also threatened agents of a certain political party at various polling stations. In Uripur and Airushamba in Imphal West district, armed men asked the agents to leave the polling areas. Angered by this threat, the voters of Iruishamba entered the polling booth and started vandalizing it.

Armed men also fired in the air in Kirao constituency in Imphal East district. There was a clash between voters and armed men in Khongman Zone 4 on Friday morning. In the Kuki-dominated assembly constituencies, very few voters turned up to vote by 1 pm. Saitu and Saikul constituencies in Kangpokpi district recorded 13.22 percent and 8.58 percent respectively, an official said Churachandpur recorded 43.67 percent voting.

Naga and Koki dominated the Shandal constituency registering 68.63% of the votes. At the same time, more votes were recorded in the Meitei areas of outer Manipur than in the Kuki-dominated areas.
