After two phases of voting, the fate of candidates on 191 seats was recorded in the EVMs. But now the elections are slowly moving to where BJP and its allies achieved record success in 2019. So, by the time the third phase of voting for 94 seats takes place on May 7, the Lok Sabha elections 2024 are likely to be underway. In the third phase, 04 from Assam, 05 from Bihar, 07 from Chhattisgarh, 09 from Madhya Pradesh, 11 from Maharashtra, two seats from Deranagar-Hawli and Daman-Diu, 2 seats from Goa, 14 from Karnataka, 14 from Jammu and Kashmir 1 seat, p ‘. Voting is scheduled for 04 seats of Bengal, 25 seats of Gujarat and 10 seats of Uttar Pradesh.
In these, after the death of a BSP candidate from Madhya Pradesh’s Betul seat, the Election Commission postponed the polling. If we look at the election phases, compared to 2019, out of 102 seats in the first phase of 2024, the NDA won 49 seats. while the opposition received 45 mandates. NDA won 58 out of 88 seats in the second phase. BJP alone won 50 seats. In doing so, the Congress won 21 seats and the other opposition won 9 seats. It remains to be seen how much change will be applied to the old data in 2024 by the ruling party and the opposition.
The opposition has the challenge of getting mandates and the ruling party has the challenge of saving them.
In the third stage, voting will take place on 93 out of 94 seats on May 7. The election campaign is expected to be quite intense in the third phase. Of these, most of the seats in 2019 were in the NDA court. Voting is scheduled to take place for all the 26 seats of Gujarat in the third phase itself. All were with BJP. All 08 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 05 in Bihar and 6 out of 7 seats in Chhattisgarh were with BJP. The Congress was only marginally successful. This time BJP is facing a tough challenge in the elections for all 11 seats of Maharashtra. The challenge of 14 seats in Karnataka also kept the BJP’s temper. Ahead of us is a battle of victory and defeat. Voting is scheduled to take place on 10 seats of Uttar Pradesh in the third phase. Among these, the Samajwadi Party had the Sambhal and Mainpuri seats. However, in 2019, BJP candidates were successful in 8 seats. In such a situation, it remains to be seen how many seats the opposition is able to grab from the BJP and its allies in the third phase.
