Guwahati: Former Supreme Court Justice Madan B. Lokur, former Chief Justice AP Shah, and veteran journalist N. Ram extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to attend a public debate for the Lok Sabha. 2024 election.

The letter of invitation, shared by Ram on his social media handle ‘X’, highlighted that the public has largely heard accusations and challenges from both sides without any meaningful responses. In the invitation, it was stated that in today’s digital world there is a significant tendency towards misinformation, misrepresentation and manipulation, emphasizing the need for an informed public debate in preparation for the elections.

The letter emphasized that a non-partisan and non-commercial platform will allow citizens to hear from the political leaders themselves, and will assist them in making informed decisions during the election process. The signatories expressed that such a discussion would set a positive precedent for democratic participation and serve as an educational tool for the electorate.
