New Delhi: During the general election (Lok sabha Election), many parties are facing a difficult situation even before the poll. There are many cases of applicants withdrawing due to lack of funds. They leave the party because they have no money and do not get proper support from the party. Recently, the Congress candidate withdrew from the fray after filing a similar nomination. Shiromani Akali Dal was recently added to that list.

Hardeep resigned from the party

Shiromani Akali Dal’s Chandigarh Lok Sabha candidate Hardeep Singh Saini has resigned from the party after withdrawing from the election. He left the party citing lack of money and lack of support from the leaders to contest the elections. It is significant that this incident happened a day before the nomination papers started. He claimed that the campaign does not receive any financial support from the party and that the leaders of the parties do not come to the constituency to support it.

Saini, who is the president of the party’s Chandigarh unit, has asked others to give tickets in his place. According to sources, he will reportedly join the BJP. Voting will take place on 1 June as part of the final stage of this constituency.

Competition between BJP and Congress

With Saini’s exit, the constituency has become a direct contest between the BJP and the Congress. This is the first time that the Shiromani Party has fielded its candidate here. So far the party supported BJP candidates. The two parties broke ties in 2021 over differences over farmer laws.

Congress candidate Puri withdrew from the election

Odisha’s Puri Lok Sabha Congress candidate Sucharita Mohanty recently returned her ticket citing the same reasons. He expressed concern that the party is not getting money for the campaign. He said he withdrew from the competition because he could not afford his own expenses. He wrote a letter to the party leaders regarding this.

As such developments happen at the last minute, party leaders are at a loss as to what to do. There is concern that the opposing parties benefit from such measures. In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, the Congress candidate withdrew his nomination papers at the last minute and joined the BJP from that party.
