Another list of BJP has been released for the Lok Sabha elections. A candidate for one seat in the Lok Sabha of Maharashtra has been announced in the list. According to the list released by BJP, this time Narayan Ran will contest from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat.

Union Minister Rane will face Vinayak Raut in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat. Vinayak is the sitting Member of Parliament from this seat. Shiv Sena (Udhav Balashav Thackeray) again fielded him. So far BJP has not contested elections from this seat. Rane’s son Nilesh Rane won this seat on the Congress ticket in 2009.

The political journey of Narayan Ran

Narayan Ran rebelled against Shiv Sena in 2005. However, Ran started his political journey with Shiv Sena. In 1968, at the age of just 16, Narayan Ran started connecting the youth with the Shiv Sena. After joining Shiv Sena, Narayan Rane’s popularity continued to rise day by day. Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray was also impressed by Narayan Ran’s popularity among the youth. His organizational skills soon made him the head of the Shiv Sena branch in Chembur.

Between 1985 and 1990, Ran was the corporator of the Shiv Sena. In 1990, he became an MLA from Shiv Sena for the first time. Along with this, he also became the leader of the opposition in the assembly. Ran’s stature grew further in the Shiv Sena when Chagan Bhujbal left the Shiv Sena.

In 1996, Narayan Rane was appointed Revenue Minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP government. Then, when Manohar Joshi stepped down as Prime Minister, Ran got an opportunity to sit in the Prime Minister’s chair. On 1 February 1999, Narayan Rane became the Chief Minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government. However, this happiness lasted for a few days.

When Uddhav Thackeray became the working president of the Shiv Sena, the rebellion began to dominate the votes of Narayan Ran. Ran raised questions about Udhav’s management and leadership abilities. After that, Narayan Ran left Shiv Sena along with 10 Shiv Sena MLAs and later joined Congress on 3 July 2005. In 2017, he also broke away from Congress and formed his own party Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha and reached Rajya Sabha with the support of BJP. He finally merged his party with BJP in October 2019.
