In February, Lithuania resumed purchases of grain from the Russian Federation, importing 12,200 tons worth 1.95 million euros. This was reported by UNIAN, writes agronews.ua.

It is also noted that at the end of winter imports increased in Latvia, which bought 58,800 tons of grain from the Russian Federation in the amount of 10 million euros. In total, EU countries bought 92.6 thousand tons of Russian grain in February in the amount of 16.9 million euros.

As the Russian “Kommersant” reports, Lithuania stopped importing Russian grain in May last year. The last deliveries were made in July 2023.

We will recall that in March the Ministry of Agriculture of Lithuania called for a ban on the import of grain from Russia and Belarus to EU countries.

The agency sent a parallel request to the European Commission: it was joined by the Ministers of Agriculture of Latvia, Estonia, Poland and the Czech Republic. At the same time, Poland urged the European Commission to introduce a total ban on products from Belarus and Russia.
