A 13-year-old is facing multiple charges after a Lamborghini crashed on a highway in West Vancouver, local police said.

The West Vancouver Police Department said officers were called to a single vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway around 11pm last Monday. Nobody was in the Lamborghini Huracan – which was left in a ditch – when the police arrived.

Police said they carried out a “detailed search” to find out who was in the vehicle and, with the cooperation of the owner of the vehicle, located and interviewed two people in the car. Turns out, the police said, a 13-year-old boy was driving at the time of the accident.

“The youngster and a friend decided to take the car for a walk but they were unable to control the car in the dark and rainy conditions,” said Sgt. Chris Bigland in a news release. “While there was significant damage to property, we are grateful that no one was injured in the collision.”

Police said the damage to the vehicle was so severe that it had to be scrapped. A photo shared by the WVPD shows the Lamborghini crashed through a fence, completely damaging the front end.

The 13-year-old driver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with speeding, driving without due care, failing to stay at the scene of a collision and driving without a licence.
