Lahore Traffic Police announces new update for driving license test

The Lahore Traffic Police has strengthened its clampdown on unlicensed drivers, leading to a surge in the number of applicants at driving license centres. In response, the police have issued a measure of relief to citizens regarding driving licences.

Despite the efforts of traffic police officers to raise awareness and provide guidance, some individuals, especially overseas Pakistanis, have struggled to pass the driving test on their first attempt.

In a recent development, the Traffic Police has amended the Punjab Motor Vehicle Rules 1969, reducing the waiting period for reapplying the road driving test from 42 days to just 15 days.

According to a post shared on the official Lahore Traffic Police link, the aim is to simplify the licensing process. The road driving test evaluates driving skills on a specific course, while the e-sign test assesses theoretical knowledge within a two-week period. Successfully passing both tests qualifies an individual to obtain a driving licence.

This amendment is a positive step towards limiting the licensing process and promoting road safety in Punjab, ensuring that licensed drivers are skilled and responsible.
