Videos of fights with foreigners on the streets of Bishkek are going viral on social media.

Violence erupted in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, after fighting between the Egyptians and the Arabs on May 13. The Kyrgyz people are targeting students from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. On the other hand, the Indian Embassy in Bishkek issued a statement saying that an unpleasant incident happened in the last few days. There are about 17,000 Indian students in different cities here. Most of her students live in Bishkek. The violence also affects some Gujarati students studying in Kyrgyzstan.

Dainik Bhaskar had an exclusive chat with Riya Lathiya, a student from Surat who lives in Bishkek, about the attacks on students in Kyrgyzstan. Riya says leave the hostel alone, we can’t even leave the airport. We have tweeted and posted all the ministers but no one has responded yet. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that everything has become normal. But our government knows nothing about this place. Only we know what’s going on here. When will the Indian government help us?

The situation has worsened in the last week. After this, a video of the fight went viral on local social media. It was said that people from foreign countries were coming to our country and killing people, and because of that the situation got worse. The issue of beating local students heated up and after this fights and riots started happening everywhere.

Locals particularly target Arab, Egyptian, Indian and Pakistani students. The situation is getting worse. The situation is getting worse every day.

The videos of public beatings that have emerged in Kyrgyzstan are very worrying. Foreign students fear the way local youth beat foreign youth. Wherever students from other countries are seen on the road, the crowd beats them. Students are seen lying on the road in a bloody state.

Many students have also been seriously injured. Not only this, but local youths are forced to enter the students’ hostel rooms and vandalize them on the pretext of giving them food. Scenes of beating can be clearly seen even in the rooms where the students stay. Attacks are ongoing.

Thousands of students at the airport
A large number of students arrive at the airport to go to their country, but even there they are not treated properly. The local officials there are not responding properly either. The airport is very small and thousands of students sit there for the last two or three days and stay there overnight. There is also a jam at the airport.

Couldn’t even get out of the hostel
Riya said we are trying to come to India, but the situation here is very bad. We couldn’t even go out of our hostel. Our college hostel operators provide us with food. We avoid leaving the room now. All the students in our group are in touch with each other and let us know what is going on with them.
If the door was not broken we were saved
Riya said that we have also come to know that two or three girls have been raped. Local youth also target female students. They can molest me at any time. Riya said my experience is even where we are staying, a uniformed policeman has tried to enter our room. First the doorbell rang and then they said, we have brought you food, but in reality they were local youths with a wrong mindset.

When we did not open the door, they also tried to break the door. The room where I stay has a double door security system. We still fear that something terrible might happen to us in such a situation.
Students are afraid to even go to the airport
Riya said that the students coming from abroad were arriving at the airport earlier so that they could return to their country. Thousands of Pakistani students also arrived at the airport, but were turned back. Similar actions are being taken with Indian students. Attacks continue on the airport as well. Students are now afraid to even go to the airport.

Embassies contacted, but no response yet
Riya said that we are constantly tweeting to our government about this situation. We have been informing the Indian government and the embassy through twitter, but no response has been given yet. Our Foreign Minister Jaishankar said that the situation is now becoming normal, but there is no truth in this. We ourselves live here.

We are very aware of this situation. I still can’t go down to the other room. From that you can understand what the situation is. It’s hard to go out because there’s violence.
Efforts to leave Almaty begin
Students try to leave Kazakhstan-Almaty, so they can reach Delhi themselves. The arrangements made here by the Telangana government are very good. Eight to ten flights are coming here and free transport arrangements have been made for the students coming from South India. But so far no arrangements are made by our government. The situation at Almaty airport is good, so some students try to get there.
More than 500 students from Surat
More than 500 students from Surat are stuck in Kyrgyzstan. More than 1500 Indian students are stuck here. There is no arrangement for their transport. Students stay in different colleges and hostels. Some people are thinking about trying to leave Almaty together, but are afraid of how and where to go together. Because mischievous anti-social elements are constantly wreaking havoc on the streets.
