The wedding took place in 2016

In the complaint lodged at the Thanesar police station on May 9, 2016, Trilochan Singh, a resident of Kesari district, Ambala, said that his sister was married to Sunny, a resident of Krishna Nagar Gamdi in 2016. His sister-in-law used to harass his sister for bringing less dowry. His sister had told him about this many times. In the evening of 8 May, he received information by telephone that his sister had hanged herself, because she was dead. On the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused Sunny during investigation.

The decision came after 8 years

The Deputy District Attorney, Bhupendra Kumar, while regularly hearing the case in the Fast Track Special Court, said that the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge, on the basis of witnesses and evidence, sentenced the guilty Sunny to six years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. If the fine is not paid, the offender will have to face an additional penalty of 6 months.
