Kshatriya community leader Raj Shekhawat has resigned from the BJP in protest at Union Minister and Rajkot Lok Sabha candidate Prashotham Rupala’s remarks. Addressing a public event, Rupala claimed that most of the Rajput rulers collaborated with the British. This statement was also condemned by members of the community.

Shahwat is also the national president of a faction of the Karni Sena. He said he was resigning from the main membership of the ruling BJP party with immediate effect. Shahwat said that he joined BJP for the welfare of the community and Sanatan Dharma. He alleged that BJP was ignoring the community during ticket distribution.

Shahwat, speaking in the BJP about Rupala’s words, said: “The party leadership did not take any action against her (Rupala). Therefore, I am resigning from the initial membership of the party.” Members of the community also protested in several different places about Ruffela’s words. Let us tell you that on Friday Rupala apologized for her reaction.
