The nomination papers of Kukrajhar MP Naba Kumar Sarnia, who is set to contest the elections for the third consecutive time, were canceled on Sunday. The responding officer Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi gave information about it. According to him, Sarnia’s appointment documents were found to be illegal, hence this action was taken.
Pradeep Kumar said April 19 was the last day to submit nominations. Until that day, 16 candidates submitted nominations. Of these, 15 nominations were found to be valid. At the same time, the appointment of the current MP Naba Kumar Sarnia was found to be illegal. The director of elections also announced that the deadline for cancellation of nominations is until tomorrow. Candidates who wish to withdraw their candidacy can withdraw their candidacy until tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
The police officer said in his order that Naba Kumar Sarnia had mentioned ‘Raba’ instead of ‘Boro’ in the community column of the nomination form. Also, the approval for the Raba community was registered without any countersignature of the issuing authority. In such a situation the certificate looks suspicious. The policeman also said that because of this, many doubts arise regarding the authenticity of the certificate. He said in his order that Sarnia won Lok Sabha Election 2019 from Kukrajhar seat by presenting the certificate of Boro-Kachari community. His certificate was recently revoked by the state-level investigation committee.
