King Charles is feeling “very well” and “was so pleased” to return to public events following his cancer diagnosis, Penny Mordant said.
The community leader spoke about her meetings with him in her role as Lord President of the Privy Council to mark the first anniversary of the coronation of the King and Queen on Monday.
She told GB News: “I think people won’t be surprised to know that he is absolutely charming and always calm.
“And he also has a really good sense of humor. But he always asks how things are going, especially issues that we deal with in parliament or about certain groups that he knows are going through a difficult time.
“He’s always asking after these people, so he cares a lot and it’s a pleasure to work with them.”
The Privy Council is a body of senior advisers to the king.

Asked how Charles was doing, Mordaunt told the broadcaster: “He is very well. And I know he would have been so happy to be back in public office. He would have missed it very much.
“I think everyone is really happy to see him back and I know he wants to do more, so it’s been a good week.”
Ms Mordaunt was responsible for carrying the sword of state and presenting the scepter to Charles at his coronation – the first time the duty had been performed by a woman.
The Conservative MP sparked interest on social media wearing a tailored yellow outfit with a matching cape and headband with gold feather embroidery.
“I was determined and very excited, but also very nervous,” she said.
“The sword was very heavy.
“The question I always asked myself when I was doing drill training with my reserve unit in the pouring rain every Tuesday night was, why am I doing this now? I know why it was so I could hold the sword in the crown.
“Actually, today’s adrenaline just carries you, carries you through.”
Ms Mordaunt has been tipped as a future contender for the Tory leadership.
But she denied she would be installed in No 10 “like a new David” amid questions about Prime Minister Rishi Sonk’s political future ahead of last week’s challenging local elections for the Tories.
