An alleged scam in Delhi liquor policy has been condemned all over the country, now it is being claimed that there is a liquor policy scam in Kerala too. The United Democratic Front led by the Congress demanded the resignation of the Minister of Revenue and Tourism, alleging an alleged alcohol policy fraud.

Demand for legal investigation of alleged fraud in alcohol policy

The UDF alleged that the LDF government had taken bribes worth crores of rupees from bar owners in the state in exchange for scrapping the dry day policy.

Allegations against CM Vijayan’s son-in-law

UDF leader MM Hasan said that Palestinian Authority Minister of Tourism Mohammad Riaz has been pressing to change the alcohol policy. According to UDF, Revenue Minister MB Rajesh has filed a police complaint in this regard. UDF claims that a police complaint was filed to save the tourism minister. Mohammed Riaz is the son-in-law of CM P Vijayan. The reason for this UDF claim is a viral audio clip, allegedly from a member of the Bar Association. In this audio segment it is said that a person will have to pay money to get the drinks policy as per their choice. UDF alleged that a bribe of Rs 20 crore was paid for the liquor policy.

UDF demands resignation of ministers

The opposition alliance says that it is impossible for the Minister of Revenue and the Minister of Tourism to guarantee changes in the dry day policy without the approval of the SMC. The UDF demanded the resignation of both ministers. Congress workers also staged a protest against the Minister of Revenue on Saturday. However, the LDF says that no Consideration for changing the beverage policy.
