Kataka sex scandal: Shivakumar behind release of pen drive, BJP leader claims
Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP leader G. Devaraje Gowda on Monday alleged that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was behind the release of the pen drive containing videos of alleged sexual assault by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s grandson and NDA candidate Prajwal Revanna.
“Congress’ main target is Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They have finished off JD-S MLA HD Revanna. Now they want to cause a retreat for BJP in the state. HD Kumaraswamy is also their target. They have also tried to blame me,” said Dewarja Gowda while speaking at a press conference.
“I don’t trust the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the sex scandal. I would submit all the evidence to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The videos I have are different from the ones published,” he said.
Gowda claimed that Deputy Minister Shivakumar had approached him and he has audio recordings to prove it.
“The hero of the pen drive episode is Shivkumar. He offered me a closet berth. I have the information about how the pen drive was prepared and the role of Congress candidate Hasan Shreyas Patel in it,” he claimed.
He claimed that the SIT was working for the state government. “SIT SP Suman D Pannekar forced me to retract the statement against the Deputy Minister. That is why I do not trust the SIT,” he said.
He claimed that former minister LR Shivarame Gowda called him and forced him not to take the names of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar.
“Shivavarma Gowda has become the intermediary of Deputy Minister Shivakumar,” he claimed.
He said that despite giving the names, location and phone numbers of those who distributed pen drives, they were not arrested.
“Now, they plan to put all the blame on me. They tried to make a deal with me. They offered the cabinet not to speak against the government, the prime minister and the deputy minister. However, I rejected their offer,” he claimed.
He said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar held a meeting of SIT officials and discussed who all should be arrested in the case.
“I waged a war against Hassan’s leaders and won it. But, my struggle was misused,” he stated referring to the arrest of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s son HD Ravana.
Talking about Karthik, the former driver of Prajwal Ravana, who allegedly gave him the sex videos featuring Prajwal Ravana, Dewarja Gowda said that as a lawyer he is entitled to meet him.
Devaraje Gowda strongly opposed giving the Hassan Lok Sabha seat to the JD-S party. He strongly demanded that the BJP field its candidate.
JD-S MLA HD Revanna has been arrested by the SIT in connection with the abduction case of one of the alleged sex video victims while his son Prajwal Revanna is absconding. The development took the country by storm. Devaraje Gowda contested against HD Revanna in the assembly elections.
