Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sexual harassment case against JDS MP Prajjwal Revanna. He said there is no need to transfer this case to CBI. Hitting the opposition, he claimed that the BJP (after being in power in the state) had never transferred even a single case to the CBI.

Siddaramaiah said, “Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda used to call CBI a ‘save thieves’ institute, and now how does he like CBI?” Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy demanded a CBI probe into this matter. To this, Siddaramaiah said, “There is no need to hand over this case to the CBI. We have full faith in the SIT.”

Citing several cases referred to the CBI during the previous Congress rule in the state, CM Siddaramaia asked, “Has anyone been punished in these cases?” He further said, “Our government does not interfere in legal proceedings and investigation. The SIT is investigating properly. Neither now nor before have we ever ordered the police to do anything against the law. However, it is not necessary for a CBI probe in the matter.”

Siddaramaiah further said, “According to rules, the SIT has been formed. We have faith in our police officers. They will reveal the truth.” The Chief Minister clarified that neither he nor the Deputy CM DK Shivakumar are involved in this investigation.
