Karkat Parliamentary Constituency was formed by merger of three constituencies of Rothas and Aurangabad. The Delimitation Commission of India recommended this in 2002. Then this parliamentary constituency was created in 2008.

The Lok Sabha elections were held for the first time in 2009 in the parliamentary constituency controlled by Kushwaha. Then for the first time, Mahabali Singh (Kushwaha) of JDU became a parliamentarian by winning the elections. Upendra Kushwaha, who became part of the NDA for the second time in 2014, became an MP from here. His party RLSP existed then.

But, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the people of the area got angry with him. For this reason he had to face defeat in the last election. The public elected the JDU candidate Mahabali Singh as its MP for the second time. Apendra Kushwa was second in the last election.

Now in the 2024 elections, Apendra Kushwaha is again contesting from the Karakat seat. Earlier, his direct competition was with All India CPIM candidate Rajaram Singh (Kushwa). But, now the competition has become threefold. This is because Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh, a resident of Ara, is in the election field as an independent candidate.

The question is about the development of cricket, which has not happened in the last 15 years. The public complains that Upendra Kushwaha became the Minister of State in the Modi government after winning the 2014 elections. Despite this, the development that should have happened in Karakat did not happen. His focus remained only in the area controlled by Kushwa. There is resentment towards him for that in this election.

The two former members of parliament did not take concrete steps to provide employment to the residents of the area. What are the leading problems in this area? What kind of parliament are the people here preparing to elect this time? What do the young voters of this area think? What will people vote on? Will the issue be one of development or will casteism prevail? There are many questions that need to be answered. The Bhaskar team went to the constituencies of Ubra, Nokka and Dehri as part of the ground report and talked to the local people.

There are many local problems here. Which is not raised by candidates of any political party in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Only casteism prevails here.

NDA suffered loss due to unemployment

Senior journalist is Kumar Bind. He knows the Karkat area very well. I spoke to him as an expert. According to him, the branch was already closed in Rohtas. Then the Dehri coal depot was closed. After that, the licensed crushing machines operating on Kimor hills were also closed. Because of this, the work of cutting the stones and making ballast in the mountains was stopped. Due to this, an economic crisis was created here. In a sense, they realized that the spine itself was broken. This affected the workers and their families.

In the Bihar Assembly elections held in 2020, Grand Alliance candidates won all the 6 assembly seats of Karakat. The RJD candidates, Pata Bahadur Singh from Dehri, Arun Kushwaha from Mala from Karkat, RJD’s Anita Devi from Manuka, Bhim Yadav from Goh, Rishi Yadav from Obra and Vijay Kumar Singh from Nabinagar won and became MLAs. NDA had to suffer huge losses in all assembly areas of Karkat.

Kumar Bind says all the previous problems still persist in Karakat. No work has been done by the central government for the economic development of the region. Mahabali Singh was a Member of Parliament in 2009 and 2019. Whereas, Upendra Kushwaha in 2014. They also did not do any development work. MP NDA from here continuously.

Despite being an agricultural area, there is no industry associated with it.

Senior journalist Upendra Kashyap says Karakat is an agricultural region. It’s called the rice bowl. There are more than 400 rice mills in Nuka. Despite this, there is no industry related to agriculture for economic development.

Upendra Kashyap said that the mahant of Aurangabad also gave 10 acres of land to open a Candriya Vidyalaya. NOC was received for that too. But, the school has not opened until today. Unemployment, illiteracy and poverty are constant issues here. But, nobody talks about those here. Casteism dominates local issues. Whereas the population in Karakat is growing. Still, the width of the National Highway from Aurangabad to Patna is not increasing.

Due to the increase in the number of vehicles, the width of the road is smaller. There were many such schemes that the Narendra Modi government removed the grip. But funds of this proportion were not given for its completion, and because of this the plans are in a state of disrepair.

Local problems disappear on Modi a big factor

Mukesh Kumar, who runs a dhaba on Barun Street in Dawood Nagar, says his vote will be in the name of development. We will vote only for those leaders who will work for the progress of the country and the region.

However, local issues of Karakat are missing in this election. The previous members of parliament did not do any work. Only those leaders who take the public into their confidence will win.

The people of Jaga Bigha village are united

Jaga Bigha is a village in Obera Assembly District of Aurangabad District. 96 percent of the people in this village belong to the Kushwaha caste. Only a few people belong to other castes. The survey team reached this village according to a land report.

Sushila Devi is a housewife of the village. He has immense faith in Narendra Modi. She clearly says that if Raja Ram Singh (CPIML) had also been a candidate from Narendra Modi’s side, we would have voted for him only. On Pawan Singh’s behalf, Sushila says that nothing will happen to those who dance and sing.

Rita Devi says our vote will go to Upendra Kushwaha. We have already voted for him in the past and we will vote for him this time as well. When asked she belongs to your caste, that’s why she will vote for him? On this he said that he too belonged to the caste and would do some work. To Pawan Singh’s question, she says contesting elections is everyone’s right. People keep coming and going in it. But their vote will only go to Upendra Kushwaha.

The youth of Bikramganj are crazy about Pawan Singh

When the Bhaskar team reached Tendoni Chowk in Bikramganj of Noka Rally, many youths were found here together. Most of them were attracted to Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh. Anil Kumar Kesari, a businessman, says that for us only development is important. Our region needs to develop, that’s what we want. Whoever was our MP before this election did not do any work for the development of this area. Now the people here want to make a new face as a member of parliament. Now we will support him only.

Prabhat Singh was asked whether Pawan Singh would be able to do development work in the area after winning the elections while working in films? Prabhat expressed confidence in this and said that Pwan Singh will do full development work. He is related to world affairs. There is full confidence that if he wins the elections he will remain active in the region.

Vivek Singh, a businessman, says Upendra Kushwaha or any MP before him has not done any work in the name of development. He may have done some work in his field. But no development work has been done in our constituency.

Bajrangi Singh says there is no question of casteism here. Only development is the issue here. Pawan Singh is a leader of people of every caste. Narendra Modi is a great leader and face. But, Pawan Singh is important to us at the local level.

Nikko Singh believes that Upendra Kushwaha was an MP once before. Now he is contesting elections from here for the second time. But, he did not do any development work at the local level. Raja Ram Singh also contested elections three times. Didn’t win even once. For this reason we now have hope from Pwan Singh. He is a completely new face.

Employment is a big problem for Dehri women

Nandani Kumari, who lives in Dehri, is a teacher. She says there is unemployment in Karakat. There should be overall development. There were many industries in Dalimaya Nagar (Rohtas Industry) of Dehri which are closed. A railway factory was supposed to be opened here that did not reach ground level. Due to political discrimination it has been pending for the past few years.

Nandani Kumari said Dheri is ranked 17th in terms of economic profits in the East Central Railway. However, the trains stop at Sasaram station instead of here. Whereas, even here the stopping of trains had to be increased. Pali Bridge passed the station. which has been broken for a long time. Due to this people have to deal with traffic jams. We want an MP who lives among the people. Listen to our problems and solve them.

Sarita Kumari says that there is a need for change and work in the field of education. Children don’t have to go far to learn. There is a need here for a central university for better education. The population here is quite good. For this reason, a central university should be opened here. The second issue is health.

Apart from this, the people of Dehri are facing unemployment. Want whoever becomes the new member of parliament to work to remove unemployment.
