This week, another drop in carrot prices is seen in Ukraine. This is reported by the analysts of the EastFruit project, writes agronews.ua.
In particular, the supply of these products from local farms has increased significantly on the market, which has led to a general decrease in consumer demand and has negatively affected the speed of sales in the carrot segment.
So, today carrots from local farms go on sale at UAH 6-10/kg ($ 0.15-0.25/kg), which is on average 15% cheaper than a week earlier.
Producers attribute the downward price trend in this segment to an increase in the supply of carrots on the market, as those farms that had previously refrained from selling are now selling the volumes available to them . At the same time, the supply of non-standard root crops remains quite high, which also puts pressure on the prices of quality products.
It is worth noting that today carrot prices in Ukraine are on average 75% lower than at the end of March last year. At the same time, the producers indicated that if the situation on the market does not change in the near future, they will be prepared to lower the prices of these root crops further in order to increase sales rates.
