KARACHI: Former Sindh governor and disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Muhammad Zubair has said that Ishaq Dar, now serving as the foreign minister, is likely to get the “finance ministry” again, ARY news reported.
The minister revealed this while speaking ARY News Aitraz Ye Hai Saturday performance.
Four-time former finance minister Ishaq Dar was first appointed Pakistan’s foreign minister by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who was elected to his second term as prime minister last month.
Sharif appointed Muhammad Aurangzeb, CEO of Pakistan’s largest bank, to handle the finance ministry.
Zubir said that the Prime Minister included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Isk Dar, in committees where the Minister of Finance should have been included. “Including Dar in the finance-related committee, the PML-N has given a clear message that the Ishaq Dar will advise in making decisions related to economic matters.”
“Ishaq Dar may be re-appointed as Finance Minister as the Prime Minister has already included him in the CCI,” added Zubeer.
It is worth mentioning here that the Foreign Minister is included in the Council of Common Interests (CCI) while the Finance Minister is not.
According to a statement from the CCI Secretariat, dated March 25, President Asif Ali Zardari constituted the council on the advice of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif effective March 21.
The newly formed council includes the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Minister of States and Frontier Regions Amir Mokam, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandpur and head of Baluchistan.
