Senior IPS officer Nalin Prabhat has been appointed as the head of the anti-terrorist force NSG (National Security Guard). Nalin Prabhat is a 1992 batch IPS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre and was currently serving as Additional Director General of CRPF.
Will remain in office until 2028
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) of the central government has approved the appointment of Nalin Prabhat. After taking charge, he will hold the post of DG of NSG till August 31, 2028. The anti-terrorist force NSG, popularly known as Black Cat, was formed in 1984. NSG is a special force created for counter-terrorism and kidnapping operations. NSG also played an important role during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Seshastra Seema Bal chief Daljit Singh Chaudhary held the additional post of NSG chief.
New appointment to the position of special director in IB
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet also approved the appointment of Sapna Tiwari to the position of Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau. Sapna Tiwari is also an Odisha batch IPS officer of 1992. Currently Sapna Tiwari is serving as Additional Director in IB. Sapna Tiwari has been appointed for two years and will remain in this position until April 30, 2026.
