McDonald’s has changed their lettuce, buns, onions and burgers for their five popular burgers to make them even tastier for customers

The changes began rolling out to all 1,450 stores last month, and customers were seen sampling the shiny new burgers across the UK.

McDonald’s has changed their lettuce, buns, onions and burgers into five popular burgers to make them even more delicious for customers.

The UK is not the first to experience the reinvented classic and the new burgers are already in restaurants in Australia and the US.

The Sun got an exclusive look inside a McDonald’s test kitchen to see how the burgers are made in real restaurants – watch our behind-the-scenes video to find out.

What changes have occurred in McDonald’s hamburgers?

McDonald’s has made five changes to the way it makes its hamburgers, the first big change in the new McDonald’s is the classic hamburger buns.

The burgers are now served with a new buttery brioche-style recipe for a soft, pillowy texture, then freshly toasted for the perfect golden outer crunch.

When you order one of these burgers at the branches, you may notice that the new buns are much shinier than the old ones and much lighter.

The second big change is not actually the burgers but the grill on which they are cooked.

McDonald’s grills now have a tighter burn, resulting in hotter, juicier beef patties.

That means the burger should still be nice and hot when you get to the table or the car.

The white onion inside the new hamburgers has also been upgraded.

Instead of adding the onions after the burger is cooked with the rest of the salad, McDonald’s adds onions to the patty while it’s still on the grill.

The onions now get a chance to absorb the meaty juices and soften.

Since the burgers are hotter now, you should get lovely gooey cheese on your burgers.

The American-style cheese is guaranteed to ooze over the sides, creating an even silkier texture.

The latest change coming to McDonald’s hamburgers is specific to fans of the classic Big Mac.

Any lettuce added to McDonald’s burgers will now be on a strict temperature timeline.

Lettuce will only be allowed to stay out of the fridge for up to 30 minutes, whereas in the past it could be left out longer.

The full list of McDonald’s menu items to which the changes will apply is:

  • Big Mac
  • Quarter pounder with cheese
  • cheeseburger
  • Double cheeseburger
  • Triple cheeseburger
