DIG AK Arya, spokesman of South Bengal Border, said that the soldiers of Itaghati border post (Malda district) of 159 battalion of Border Security Force under South Bengal border received information that some cattle smugglers might try to take the cattle from India to Bangladesh. the mother. At that moment, 20 to 25 smugglers from Bangladesh arrived at the scene. An attempt was made to render the jawan blind and ineffective by shining lights on his face and eyes. The smugglers started moving towards the jawans, again warning them to stop but they did not stop. The soldier fired three bullets in the air and three bullets on the ground. But the smugglers continued to surround the soldier and the smugglers got very close to the soldier.

Aryeh said that since his life was in danger and he found no other option, the soldier again fired four bullets at the smugglers in self-defense. Taking advantage of the darkness, the smugglers left the cattle and fled towards Bangladesh. In the meantime, another patrol team also arrived at the scene.
