India will definitely get permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), but for that one thing will have to be kept in mind. It requires hard work. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said this during a conversation with intellectuals in Rajkot, Gujarat. In fact, During this time the audience asked the foreign minister a question about India’s prospects for permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

The Foreign Minister said that the United Nations was established almost 80 years ago, when China, France, the Soviet Union, Great Britain and the United States decided to become permanent members of its Security Council. According to him, at that time there were about 50 independent countries in the world, whose number has now increased to 193. But even now five countries have retained their control in the council. S Jaishankar said that now there is a worldwide demand that there should be a change in the United Nations Security Council and India should get a permanent seat. Taking his words further, he said that we will definitely get permanent membership in the UNSC but without a job It is difficult to achieve nothing great.

Pressure will have to be put on the UN- S Jaishankar

The Union Minister said that India, Japan, Germany and Egypt have jointly presented a proposal to the UN and it is expected that this will advance the issue of permanent membership. Jaishankar also emphasized that everyone will have to unite to put pressure on the UN. According to him, as the pressure increases, so will India’s chances of getting a permanent seat.

The foreign minister said that there is an impasse at the UN in the Ukraine war and it is not possible to reach an agreement in the UN regarding Gaza.
