India will continue cooperation to counter the misuse of information and communication technologies by terrorists and criminals. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval gave this assurance on Wednesday saying that international cooperation is needed to ensure information security and create a credible and inclusive framework.

Duval was speaking at an information security assurance event in St Petersburg about India’s policy to use digital technology for inclusive economic growth. Duval emphasized that India will continue cooperation to prevent the misuse of information and communication technologies by terrorists and criminals as well as to prevent terrorist financing.

According to him, in this context, the UN Convention on Cybercrime will be an important initiative at the international level. They called for international cooperation for an open, stable, secure, reliable and inclusive framework to ensure information security.

Duval, who attended the 12th International Meeting of Senior Security Officials, said the road map for such cooperation should include all stakeholders, from governments to the private sector, academia, the technical community and civil society. According to him, a regular institutional dialogue should be created to help develop a common understanding on important issues.
