A complaint was made to the Crime Branch by the applicant, a resident of Indore, regarding the hacking of her 11-year-old daughter’s Instagram profile and the hacker illegally demanding $200 to return the profile.

After receiving the complaint, the Crime Branch instructed the Social Media Cell team to recover the profile immediately. Complete information about the applicant’s daughter’s Instagram account was obtained through the social media cell. Revealed to have worked with big Bollywood celebrities, the girl, who has around 6.5 lakh followers, was lured by the hacker to get the blue tick on her Instagram profile. The profile’s password and verification code were shared with the hacker via email, as the profile’s password was changed by the hacker and the profile’s username was also changed.
From the fake email of the hacker, the Crime Branch found that the hacker was using Turkish software, on which the Crime Branch has corresponded with the Meta platform demanding all the details of the hacker as well as to recover the profile recovered profile the applicant’s daughter safely by requesting that the password reset link be sent to the complainant’s email.
