Naveen Pandey Panipat: Regarding the Aravalli mountain range that stretches from Haryana to Rajasthan to Gujarat, the Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the Rajasthan government to stop illegal mining in the Aravalli range. The court has given this order after illegal mining was exposed in the Forest Survey of India report. FSI reported illegal mining in more than 3 thousand sites in the Aravalli hills under Rajasthan and Haryana. The next hearing will be on May 9. Whoever’s heat may reach the Haryana government and the mining mafia too. In 2018, the Forest Survey of India reported that 31 hills of the Aravalli range were missing due to illegal mining. This decision has been given by the bench led by Justice BR Gavai. In the year 2002, a complete ban on mining was imposed by the Supreme Court. A bench of Justice MP Oka said, ‘Illegal mining must be stopped’. The slopes of Aravali are ruined. He said, ‘We need to strike a balance between sustainable development and environmental protection. Ongoing steps are being taken: Mining is taking place on the Aravali hills. Only 8 units have taken mines on lease for mining. An average revenue of Rs 1 billion 25 crore is given to the department every year. In 2021-22, a fine of Rs 3 crore 39 lakh was collected for illegal mining. The revenue of the district is worth Rs 1.25 billion. This is the reason why the mining mafia keeps an eye on the Aravalli hills. According to the Mining Department, due to the high iron content in the stones found here, the illegal mining mafia steals stones worth around eight crores every year and spends them. Aravali hill range passes through Nangal Choudhary, Nizampur and Satnali in Mahendragarh district, bordering Rajasthan. The government allows legal mining in these hills only on a permit basis. There are 8 units doing mining in the area with valid permits. Stone is removed from mining, made into dust and crushed in a mineral mixer crusher and supplied to NCR. In addition, illegal mining also takes place in the surrounding areas. The amount of iron in the mountains is more than 65 percent. Demand for stone is high in construction and heavy machinery manufacturing. A mining license was also taken from a unit but the work was stopped when the processing process became difficult. After this the mining mafia came to know the importance of this stone.
