NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would go public for the third time with its 10-year record to eradicate terrorism and Naxalism from the country. Amit Shah said in an exclusive interview with Network 18. Terrorism and Naxalism have been two major scourges for democracy and development in this country for decades. Narendra Modi-ji has given us almost 100 percent freedom from terrorism in 10 years and Naxalism has been eradicated almost 95 percent.

An end to Naxalism in a couple of years

Sharing the statistics of India’s fight against Naxalism, Shah today said that Naxalism has been completely ended in seven states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Bharatiya Janata Party has now formed a government in just four districts of Chhattisgarh, and nearly 100 Naxalites have been killed in the last three months. After Modi became the Prime Minister for the third time, he said, “I am fully confident that the country will be completely rid of Naxalism in a year or two.”

At a security review meeting in Chhattisgarh in January this year, Shah told top officials of the security grid briefing that all stakeholders should immediately draft a detailed road map for anti-Maoist operations, CNN-News 18 previously reported. The security grid was given three years to destroy the remaining Maoist units in Chhattisgarh.

Ban on Naxalism in Chhattisgarh

Last month, 29 Naxalites were killed in the biggest operation by security forces in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. The Union Home Minister said that the Centre’s campaign against Naxalism and terrorism in Chhattisgarh has gained momentum since the formation of the BJP government in the state.
