Calcutta: Homestay and guest house owners are eager to attract tourists. However, this time a green leaf rating is made mandatory for the cleanliness of hotels or home stays.
Tourists can understand the standard of cleanliness from this rating. Along with this, it will be convenient for tourists to decide whether they can stay there or not based on this cleanliness.
There will be three different levels to this score – Leaf-One, Leaf-Three and Leaf-Five.

Sarwan Kumar, Block Development Officer (BDO) of Chowntra in Himachal Pradesh, said that the score will be important for the tourism related units.
There will be a total evaluation of 200 marks. This number is given mainly based on solid waste management, faecal sludge management and polluted water management.
Scores and Criteria:
Solid Waste Management – ​​80 marks
Faecal Sludge Management – ​​80 marks
Gray Water Management – ​​40 marks
If a homestay or hotel scores between 100 and 130. Then they will get a Leaf-1 score. Those who score between 130 and 180 will be given a LEAF-3 score.
And if the score is higher than 180, the homestay or guest will be given a Leaf-5 score. And this score will be matched by a committee. Who will be led by SDM. And this certificate will be given by the Deputy Commissioner of Mandi.

And above all, this rating will bring benefits. Because the score will be given on the site of homestays or hotels. Through this, tourists can know the facilities related to sanitation standards. This will increase awareness of keeping the environment clean.
The Cleanliness Green Leaf rating will be standard for tourists. On the basis that they can decide whether they want to stay there or not.
Meanwhile, Yoginder Nagar has an important place in terms of tourism. Many tourists flock here every year. Areas like Barot Valley and Bir-Biling are close from here. Green Leaf’s cleanliness score will play an important role in this scenario.
