Meteorologists say the mercury could rise at night during the next 4 days. A further rise in daytime temperatures is possible. Temperatures are expected to drop on May 30.

Holidays till 12th class in 5 districts
In view of the scorching heat in Haryana, DCs of 5 districts have announced holidays in schools up to class 12. These include Bhiwani, Sirsa, Karnal, Jind and Panipat. Holidays up to 8th class in Jhajjar and Gurugram and up to class 5 in all districts including Rewari, Kaithal, Ambala, Faridabad, Sonipat have been extended till 31 May. Earlier, DCs from 15 districts had announced holidays in schools till class five.

46 year old record likely to be broken in Punjab

Una is hottest in Himachal

Sunday was the hottest day of this season in Shimla along with Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Dhaula Kuan of Himachal. Una’s temperature has reached the highest, which is 44.4 degrees Celsius, which is only 0.8 degrees less than the temperature recorded so far in the last 50 years. Earlier, the highest temperature recorded in Una was 45.2 degrees Celsius on May 23, 2013.

The temperature in Shimla has also reached 30.6 degrees Celsius, which is 4.8 degrees more than normal. The temperature of Hamirpur also increased by 6.2 degrees above normal and reached 42.1 degrees. The temperature of Mandi and Bilaspur has also become 6 degrees more than normal, that of Nahan and Bhuntar 5 degrees more than normal.
