BJP and Congress workers clash after throwing PM Narendra Modi’s poster in the drain in Ambala, workers sealing EVM machines in Hisar and workers taking EVMs from Rohtak.

Voting on 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana was held between 7 am and 6 pm on Saturday. According to the Electoral Commission app for the number of voters, voting was recorded at 58.15% until 6pm. However, this figure may change.

According to Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Aggarwal, the by-elections in the 10 Lok Sabha and Karnal Assembly seats in the state were peaceful. According to Aggarwal, 65% voted in the Lok Sabha elections. According to him, till 8 pm the highest poll of 69% was recorded in Sirsa. Ambala recorded 66.9% voter turnout, Kurukshetra 66.2%, Faridabad 59.7%, Hisar 64.6%, Sonipat 62.2%, Rohtak 64.5%, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh 65.2%, Karnal 63.2%, and Gurgaon W60.6%. Apart from this, 57.8% voted in the by-election for the Karnal Assembly seat.

In 2019, a total of 70.34% voted in Haryana. Now the counting of the votes will take place on June 4.

91 strong rooms, the returning officer will visit three times
According to State Election Commissioner Anurag Aggarwal, 91 strong rooms have been made in the state for the security of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines. 90 strong rooms have been created for 10 Lok Sabha constituencies and one for Karnal Assembly seat.

According to Aggarwal, in accordance with the instructions of the Electoral Commission, the Returning Officer will visit the strong room three times. The entire process of installing and sealing the EVMs and VVPAT machines in the strong room will be videographed. There will be only one door in the strong room. If there is more than one gate in the strong room, all but one of the gates and windows will be sealed. The room will be double locked and have triple layer security arrangements.

Uproar over Modi’s poster being thrown in a drain in Ambala
Occasional incidents also came to light during the voting. There was a ruckus in Ambala after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poster was thrown into the drain. BJP workers were enraged because of this protest by Congressmen. After this they clashed with each other in front of the police.

There was an altercation between BJP MLA and Congress supporters in Bhiwani. MLA Ghanshyam Das Saraf wanted to cast his vote for PA Satnarayan, but the supporters of Congress candidate Rao Dan Singh from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat who were present at the polling station opposed him. There was a dispute between the MLA and the Congress workers regarding this. Congress and BJP workers also came face to face in Yamunanagar.

A video of a polling booth in Kurukshetra has gone viral. In this video the person shows EVM-VVPAT while voting. Meanwhile, an elderly woman accused the booth agent of forcefully pressing the lotus button. The woman from Panipat said her fake vote was cast. While in Hisar someone else casts his vote for the old man.

A clerk on election duty died in Sonipat. The head constable’s health deteriorated while on duty in Rohtak.
