Deputy Constable Sam De Rea said: “The use of discriminatory language is completely at odds with the values that the public are rightfully entitled to expect from the police.

“Our communities are served by officers, staff and volunteers they can trust, who treat them fairly, equitably and with respect at all times, without prejudice.

“The messages sent by PC Thrumble, while working as a special constable for Dorset Police, undermine that trust.

“Anyone who has these kinds of displays has no place in our force in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

“We want to see our people flourish in a respectful work environment where everyone feels valued.”

The messages were first reported in 2022 and were sent during a conversation on a dating app.
