Guwahati: More water cuts, indoor assembly in schools to fight heat Achi-News

GUWAHATI: Due to intense heat affecting the region, Assam’s Kamrup Metropolitan District Primary Education Department has directed schools to ring water bell thrice a day and hold morning assemblies indoors.

This order effective May 22 was issued to ensure students stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the hot weather. In addition, schools are instructed to hold morning assemblies inside classrooms or on balconies instead of in open areas or fields.

An order issued by the Superintendent of Schools, Kamrup Metro to the principal of all schools, reads, “Inviting a reference to the above-cited issue, as we are aware that since last week an excessive heat wave is heating us. As a result, sweating, headaches and other health problems may attack the students. As such In order to prevent any bad incident among students, drinking enough water is inevitable. Therefore, you are requested to ring the water bell three times during school hours, in order to ensure that each student drinks enough water to stay hydrated Organize the morning rally inside the classroom or on the school balcony and not in the open or in the field,” the order added.
