GUWAHATI: A case of online fraud has been registered at the Noonmati police station after a man was allegedly duped of ₹13,000 through a fake hotel booking website on March 19.

The victim identified as Anka Deka, a resident of Patharkwari, runs a travel agency and was looking for a place to stay in Shillong. After searching various hotels on the Google search engine, he came across the Pinewood Hotel and proceeded to pay.

However, after he did not receive any confirmation from the hotel, it turned out to be a fraud.
The account holder associated with the transaction has been identified as Raman Aggarwal.
While speaking to GPlus, Deka said, "I was asked to register a case online through the cyber crime portal. But, due to too much traffic on the site, the process is not yet complete."
