A 7th century idol of Goddess Durga has been discovered in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said the 1,300-year-old idol was found in Khag district.
An official said that the statue is of Goddess Durga and was established around the 7th century AD.

This statue of Goddess Durga seated on a throne is missing on a shoulder on the left side of the arm. The sculpture bears the influence of the Gandhara school of art. Holding lotus in right hand.

The confiscated statue was handed over to the Deputy Director of the Department of Archives, Archeology and Museums Mushtaq Ahmad Baig.
